"National Day of Prayer"

On Thursday, May 5th, Theresa Cates attended the National Day of Prayer at the Arkansas State Capitol. On the steps of the Capitol building, Theresa began creating her work of art, inspired by the event, the surroundings and the overall emotions felt there that day. The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It serves as a day to join together, despite difference in race, religion, sex, etc, and unite to pray to Our Father God, asking for guidance for our leaders and grace for our nation. This year the theme was, “Wake Up America, emphasizing the need for individuals, corporately and individually, to return to the God of our Fathers in reverence for His Holy Name. To further highlight our theme, we’ve chosen Isaiah 58:1a as our Scripture for this year: “Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet.” as stated on the page for the National Day of Prayer.”
