Daughters of the Diaspora: Women of Color Speak

Diaspora is defined as the dispersion of people from their homeland or a community formed by people who have exited or been removed from their homeland. The term diaspora comes from an ancient Greek word meaning “to scatter about.” And that’s exactly what the people of a diaspora do — they scatter from their homeland to places across the globe, spreading their culture as they go.

Daughters of the Diaspora—Women of Color Speak is an art exhibition at Henderson State University in Hot Springs, Arkansas that brings together creative voices through a variety of mediums. This exhibition features established and emerging women artisans from local, regional and national markets. The Landmark Building is a perfect setting for this art exhibit that inspires reflection about our history, identity, and culture.

A happy satisfied customer! This was such a great event and I was honored to be a part of it!
